Hi all! Welcome to our June FME Community User Spotlight. Every month, we spotlight a user in the community whose active participation and helpful contributions have been invaluable. We’re excited to highlight their experiences and insights! ⭐

User Spotlight: Arthur Bazin  / @arthur_bazin

What company do you currently work for?
arx iT

What's your current job role and title?
Senior GIS Expert

Tell us more about what you do and how you use FME?
I'm currently helping our customers improve their FME skills through training, while also developing workspaces for data integration. I particularly enjoy integrating FME with the amazing world of PostgreSQL + PostGIS. These two tools are really complementary and together can solve nearly all the data challenges I've encountered throughout my professional life.

Why did you join the FME Community?
Easily find the answer to all my questions. Discover new methods on how to use FME (sometimes in a weird way). Helping others.

What tips do you have for users on how to get the most out of the FME Community?
Any question you have has already been on someone else's mind, so don't be afraid to ask! You will always find help and a solution.

Tell us about some of the exciting use cases you've built using FME.
One of the most exciting projects I've worked on is a topology controller I built to check whether water supply networks are correctly digitized. It scans every pipe and network object to detect topological errors based on a defined tolerance (for example, an object placed 500mm from a pipe with a tolerance of 100mm). Detecting and resolving these errors ensures networks are topologically consistent and ready for routing.

What's one of your favourite tips or tricks for using FME?
1. Mastering the schema and unexposed attribute.

2. Adding some fancyness with Python.

3. Do not talk about FME with your family, they will look bored; what's in the community stays in the community (others don't know what they're missing!) 😆

If you were stranded on an island and could only bring three things with you, what would they be?
The FME spork! You know, the spoon/fork that we use to find on your stand 😉

If you could work from anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Probably in the Japanese Alps : Same mountain names as my location, lot's of snow, hot spring, snow, amazing people, snow and the food is delicious (did I mention the snow?)
