Hello,

I have a workbench with the following elements :

  • 1 Excel writer based on a template file, and with option “Overwrite Existing File” set to Yes (mandatory to use a template).
  • 8 Feature types writing to 8 different sheets of the same Excel file.

As I’ve seen in other posts, this configuration should work.

However, when I run the workbench, only one sheet is filled in the final excel file. If I run the writer Feature Types one by one, they do write their own sheet and remove the others.

Can someone tell me what is wrong in this configuration ?

I use FME Desktop 2021.2.

Hello @frc

The behaviour of writing in the individual sheet when the writer feature types are run one by one (via partial run) is expected since only one feature type is run.

If the output sheet name matches the template sheet name in the template file, then the Template Sheet parameter can be left empty on the writer feature types. If they do not match, then the template sheet does need to be specified.

The writer parameter looks correct if the Excel template sheet name matches the output sheet name.

I have attached an example where features are written to the correct Excel sheet in the template. Does running this workspace create a similar output for you?
