Text halo/buffer/background

Is it possible to set a halo or background to text at all?

I'm setting up what will become a pdf top sheet for a set of profiles we are producing and it's coming along well but one issue I'm struggling with is styling of some labels on the main map.

The labels are being created with a LabelPointReplacer but clearly the text isn't going to be readable on the raster I'm using without some help.

In QGIS or Mapinfo I'd probably set a text buffer or flat colour box to make it work but I'm getting the impression I can't do that in FME?

Is there another way I can make those labels readable?  They represent part of the main point of the map!

I've got FME 2013.

Hi

Rather than using the LabelPointReplacer, consider using the MapnikRasterizer.

The Text symbolizer seems to support halos.

Ah, interesting thanks, unfortunately that'll mean waiting till I can upgrade FME as it looks like that was introduced with 2014.  I'm hoping I should be able to do that in the next few weeks though so it may jsut have to wait a little bit.
