Question

Switched from32 bit FME to 64 bit: Which upgraded reader/writer for older versions.

I inherited FME and basically just kept using what previously worked. We've now upgraded to 2017 and I'm finding many of the older components don't work after upgrading. Our previous reader was GEODATABASE_MDB and our previous writer was ORACLE8I. It appears there's not new equivalents for these. What is the best approach to finding the "new" equivalent of old readers/writers, as searching the web seems to produce very little.

Hi @sdlasiter, are you using 32 bit or 64 bit FME Desktop?

Funny story there, upgraded to FME 64 bit, which required me to upgrade my ArcMap to 64 bit, and also to upgrade my Office to 64 bit for mdb Access files, which then required a Microsoft ADO upgrade to 64 bit.

@sdlasiter

Ahh I think that is your issue then. GEODATABASE_MDB is only supported by FME 32 bit :

Been my lucky week I guess......Looks like I'll have to convert to something else before trying to load it now.

Hi @sdlasiter. Another option to consider if you are able would be to install FME 32-bit on the same machine as FME 64-bit. It's possible to install multiple FMEs on the same machine
