Hi All

there are some discussion about centerline replacer

I've tried to run to extract centerline of a poligons (taht represent roads) but I received

2019-02-26 13:45:14| 2.2| 0.5|WARN |CenterLineReplacer: Unable to prepare geometry for skeleton construction

2019-02-26 13:45:14| 2.3| 0.1|WARN |CenterLineReplacer: Unable to prepare geometry for skeleton construction

So can you suggest the correct workflow to obtai9n tjhe centerlineS ?

thx

Francesco

Hi @checcosisani Try the new 'Approximate Center Line' mode, available in FME 2019 betas - www.safe.com/beta

HI @checcosisani,

The calculation of a center line can take up a lot of time, depending on the feature complexity (e.i. the number of vertices) using a Generalizer transformer can help speed up the process.

Hope this helps,

Itay

thx for suggestion !

Amazing tool !

one question how I can try to avoid situations like this (see bmp)

Thx

Hi @checcosisani That looks bad 😞 I assume you're displaying the coordinates on the lines? We're still making refinements to this approximate mode. Can you send us your source data via https://www.safe.com/support/report-a-problem/ ? Thanks!

Hi @checcosisani,

Any settings that don't distort the original shape of the objects but reduce the number of vertices would help, so the any of the Generalizing algorithms should do the trick.

From the looks of it a Dissolver might help.
