Do Caris NTX files support custom coordinate systems?

I am trying to transform a .ntx file into a custom coordinate system, when inspecting the data at the last step before the writer, coordinate system appears correctly. After exiting the writer and opening in Data Inspector, coordinate system appears as unknown.

I have had success transforming shapefiles using the custom coordinate system so I do not believe it is the problem.

I have also had success transforming the NTX file using built in coordinate systems.

Any suggestions?

Caris NTX only supports a limited number of projects and ellipsoids. Projections are limited to:

  • Lambert Conformal
  • Mercator
  • Polyconic
  • Polar Stereographic
  • Transverse Mercator
  • Universal trans. Merc.
  • Gnomonic
  • Simple Conic

Is this the possible cause of your unknown coordinate system?

Hi @smicheau01 It sounds like our NTX writer needs a bit more work. Please send a demo template to www.safe.com/support Thanks!
