I'm new to FME, using FME 2011.

I'm trying to tile some LAS files with a shapefile grid, as outlined here: http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/Samples_and_Demos/Tiling-Point-Cloud-Data

My sole addition is a Reprojector between the LAS files and the Clipper. Everything lines up in the visualizer, but the Clipper returns all the LAS files as 'Outside'. Is there something obvious I'm missing?

Hi,

Logically it means that your las is far far away...:) what happens if you duplicate the reprojector and add it between the tiles and clipper?

Also very recommended is to upgrade your FME version, there have been additions and improvements of 3D clipping since 2011.

See http://fmepedia.safe.com/articles/FAQ/Whats-Great-2012

(search for clipper)

Hope this helps,

@Itay: Sadly, convincing IT to install an upgrade is beyond the scope of today's tasks :)

Adding the second reprojector ends with the same result. The visualizer drops the LAS on top of the clipper SHP grid, but the clipper output has it all outside.
Hi,

It is strange that the demo doesn't make use of the point cloud coercer to decompose the data. What happens if you insert a point cloud coercer after the LAS reader?

If you stuck with 2011 for awhile 🙂 then maybe the following link can help
