Happy Friday, FME Community! This week, we’re continuing with our 2026.3 Highlights with a showcase on OAuth - and for Google Workspace customers, this week's video is new ground rather than a better way of doing something you already do.
OAuth for Outbound Email in FME Flow: Google Workspace and Gmail
Until FME Flow 2026.3, there was no OAuth option for Gmail in FME Flow at all. App passwords were the only route and Google has been steadily closing that door. “Less secure apps” access is gone, and app passwords are progressively restricted. For a Google Workspace organisation running modern security policies, there was simply no supported way to configure Flow email.
Now there is. FME Flow 2026.3 adds the OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code flow with PKCE for Google Workspace and Gmail. An administrator signs in once through Google's consent screen, and Flow receives tokens it can refresh silently from then on. No app password is entered, and none is stored.
