I actually know them 😃 Some of their songs are on our Toponyms playlist (Shanghai, Kepler-22b and Gliese 710)

Sounds like fun! 🎶

It is! Currently over 500 songs and there’s two rules:

  1. We have to like the song (so there’s a lot of rock, punk and metal in it 🤘)
  2. The title of the song has to refer to a location.

So location is a broad term. It can be big (“3rd Stone From The Sun” by Jimi Hendrix) or small (“Crossroads” by Robert Johnson and lots of others). It can be very specific (“Map Ref. 41°N 93°W” by Wire) or fictional (“Shangri-La” by The Kinks)

Check it out:

I’m still toying with the idea of doing a presentation, podcast or Youtube video where I discuss some of those songs…

You should name him Fraser, after the river that runs near your office.

@redgeographics Wow! I only just realized what “d’yer mak’er” means! How did I not realize for all those years?!?!

From a Canadian point of view, can I suggest Bobcaygeon by The Tragically Hip?

Suggestions are always welcome, I've discovered some really nice music this way.

Well, I suppose it was worth a shot!

He’s too serious!

You are giving us inspiration for future Questions of the Week!

Well, since it use to be Don & Dale, I don’t think you shouldn’t stray away from a name beginning with D

How about Daryl

Asking a group what to call a thing, doesn’t always go to plan… I present Boaty McBoatface as exhibit 1. I therefore propose Lizard McLizardface 😋!

Maybe a fun project for the 12 Days Of FME: read a gazzetteer and cross-reference it with the Spotify API (it'll be a lot of API calls, this sounds like a very brute-force approach)

Larry finally shows up to work! After all these years of adventure and living his best life, the FME Lizard “Larry” has a day job
