Luckily, we have some clues to help us.

Greenbeard was very keen on codes and ciphers. In particular, he liked the Double Transposition Cipher. This is a code that is encoded using two different keys. Unless you know both of those keys, you will not be able to decipher the message!

Let’s see if we can find those keys.

Key 1:

• The first key is the name of a custom transformer.
• This transformer was uploaded to the FME Hub on 20th October, 2025.

The transformer has since been removed, but you should be able to find a record of it somewhere on the FME Community website.

Key 2:

• The second key is the name of a country.
• This country was represented in a 2020 World Tour presentation.
• The presentation showed how FME was used to supply data to a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition dashboard.
• The project involved 25,000km of electrical powerlines.

You should be able to find this presentation or related customer story on the Safe websites.

With the two keys, you can now decipher the message. If you don’t know how, check online for a method. You could either:

• Decode the message manually.
• Write an FME workspace to decode the message.
• Use a website that has online code deciphering tools.
