Why does my Augmented Reality model follow me like dog?

A couple of weeks ago, Fredrik Johnsson from Varberg Municipality in Sweden, asked me a question: "Why does my model follow me like a dog?".

After we fixed stability problem in the latest version of FME AR app, models usually sit on their location quite well, but his model followed him wherever he walked. You may encounter this behavior, too. So, what is really going on?

This is a very good question, and it's actually not about technology itself, it is rather about our perception of the augmented world. When we position AR objects under the ground (or behind wall), we mentally cannot place them correctly into the real world. Watch this video that shows the effect, explains why it is happening, and suggests a couple of solutions:
