Dear
All and peopleAtSafe,

I
have reviewed few threads in community on migration to ESRI UN data model.

There
are 2 ideas posted

For
Reader: https://knowledge.safe.com/idea/53502/read-the-esri-utility-netowrk.html

For
Writer: https://knowledge.safe.com/content/idea/53497/write-to-esri-utility-network.html

Reply
from @MarkAtSafe says "We are still in the process of developing a UN
feature service reader and writer".

Further
@trentatsafe posted workbenches for both Gas and Water

https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/72048/utility-network-migration-tools.html

I
want know few things…

1. I’m a beginner in UN model, when FME is capable of reading/writing
to GDB/SDE then what is the need of additional reader/writer? Currently, Does FME
don’t have capability to read or write of UN model or in other words UN model
is not present in GDB/SDE?

2. With the help of workspaces provided in the links, can I use
them as-is and migration of data can be achieved from UPDM model to UN model without
any user interaction (i.e. except providing the parameters)

or

in other words does this migration
workspaces accomplish 100% mapping for all attributes?

3. Do the workspaces include all spatial relations of UN
model required or shall I assume that these workspaces are just guidelines…

4. There is only 1 object table migration has been present in the workspace. Does UN model have only 1 object table for Gas?

5. Does UN model does not have annotations...

Thanking you all in advance,

Pratap

Hi Everyone,

Could anyone throw some light on this question... :)

Pratap

Hello @pratap

1) I have updated the Reader/Writer Ideas to reflect why a new format is needed. The reason being that the underlying Geodatabase is inaccessible outside of the Feature Service.

2) As outlined in the following article: https://knowledge.safe.com/articles/72048/utility-network-migration-tools.html you will have to configure the workspaces to run with your own dataset.

Esri has some great documentation that provides some excellent insight regarding the Utility Network and the Asset Package required for migration. Please see the following link for some additional information regarding the Utility Network and the Asset Package.

I hope that helps!

Hi @trentatsafe,

Workbenches in the links are provided with GDB writers. Could you kindly clarify how the data will be migrated from staging database to UN model...

Thanks,

Pratap
