Hi @sleschi thanks for your question, I have some clarifying questions of my own:
- could you verify that the Item Type is set to Scene Layer Package?
- The publishing error message returned suggests that this might not be the case.
- what version of FME are you using?
Hi @Evie Lapalme thanks for your reply.
About your questions:
I am using FME 2021.2.6.0 (20220727 - Build 21821 - WIN64)
Where in the ArcGISOnlineConnector can I set the Item Type?
I can chose the action, which is "Publish" and then I search for the content Source. There I find my Scene Layer Package listed and select it. I have no further option to say, what Item Type it is. Or do I miss something here?
That's how I chose the SLPK, which is stored in the portal. It states that it is a ScenePackage.
Here I can not chose the Item Type anymore.Does this makes things clearer for you?
in general, should it be possible to publish a Scene Layer Package with Multipatches to a Scene Layer, with the ArcGISOnlineConnector?
Thanks a lot for your help
Simon

Hi @sleschi thanks for confirming! I personally have not attempted this, but I believe you may want to "Upload" instead of "Publish" in the Request Action. This allows you to set your Item Type via the drop down or by the file extension. If this still does not work for you, I would suggest submitting a case with us so that we may investigate further. Either way, sounds like there may be improvements that we could make. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Hi @Evie Lapalme thanks for your reply.
I tried your suggestion, but this means, that I need to delete the already present SLPK on the Portal. This is not the behaviour I'm looking for, because I only want to Update the SLPK. When I tried the Upload method, I also saw, that there is no Item Type "Scene Package" available. I can only chose "Use File Extension" or any other Format, that is available in the list.
The Step "Update" with the ArcGIS Online Connector also works fine for me. I then delete the related Scene Layer within another ArcGIS Online Connector. Which also works fine. And then I would like to Publish the Updated SLPK within the next ArcGIS Online Connector. There I get the mentioned error message and an empty Feature Service instead of a Scene Service is produced on the Portal.
Workaround:
My workaround for now is, that I use a PythonCaller and use the Python API to publish my Scene Package.
This seems to work. If this behaviour would be possible within the ArcGIS Online Connector, it would be much easier. But for now it works for me.
Maybe you could follow this hint to further improve the behaviour of the ArcGIS Online Connector.
Thank you very much for your help anyway. Always appreciate the fast replys from the Safe stuff.
Cheers

I'm glad you're able to workaround this issue! I'm going to file a ticket on your behalf because this sounds like an enhancement or a bug, and either way this could be improved for the future. If you would like to file a case with us, you can be automatically notified about the progress of this ticket. (internal ticket: FMEENGINE-80256) Happy FMEing!
Hi @Evie Lapalme thanks, that's fine with me for the moment.
Do I need to file an official case to follow your internal ticket? Or how does this work? I would like to be informed, if something gets changed with the ArcGIS Online Connector transformer regarding this issue. That would be nice.
Have a good time

Yes! @sleschi please submit a case with us (include a link to this community thread or the internal ticket number) and you can be automatically notified through your case and into your email.
Thanks @Evie Lapalme . I submited the case.
Cheers
Simon
Having exactly the same problem. Did a workaround with the Http caller but that includes many transformers to check if the publishing is finished. please update here when the ticket is closed
