The workspace runner should add the pid as an attribute to submitted jobs.
When submitting jobs in parallel this pid could be used to monitor the submitted jobs to check for their completion. For FME Server you can use the job id if needed in order to monitor things. But for FME Desktop you can never really be sure when a submitted job has completed
