Workspace ‘Chain’ Web Designer

Since you now have the workspace viewer it would be helpful to have a minimal workspace workflow designer web UI where one could chain/link/connect multiple workspaces to run in certain order with success/fail logic.

I feel that FME Server does not handle parent / child workspaces very well (more it’s just seeing the master workbench). We use this a lot since a lot of our datasets have to process in a certain order.

I would use this by linking the flow of workspaces, some can run as soon as an engine is free, some have dependency’s etc.

This would solve the challenge with the master locking up an engine when run in sequence and also we can get log files and reporting as default on child workspaces

Maybe...hopefully... was hoping not to have to create separate notifications/subscriptions. If I have 15 workspaces to run in a certain order, some can run together some dependencies, I want the drag drop that the idea there offers and maybe the whole notification/subscription logic is worked out behind the scenes. Guess we'll see when the idea comes out in beta

We believe that the new feature Automations in FME Server 2019.0 will enable you to more easily chain workspaces together than you would otherwise be able to with Parent/Child workspaces or leveraging Topics in FME Server Notifications.

Please check out the latest FME Server 2019.0 betas and let us know what you think!
