Updating SDE Version at runtime

Thanks for the idea here! I think there's a bit more to learn from you about what you're looking for.

Today, the Esri Geodatabase (ArcSDE Geodb) reader can already read from a versioned database. This is typically configured on the database connection:

Note the Version group and the Version Type parameter:

• Set to "Version from SDE Connection", it pulls the version that the .sde connection file is configured to use.
• Set to "Transactional Version", it uses the default version unless you type in a version name yourself.

Either way, the version is stored on the connection rather than exposed as a runtime parameter, so it is fixed once the connection is set up. The closest thing to dynamic today is using "Version from SDE Connection" and swapping in a different .sde file per run, with one file configured per version.

Could you share a bit more about what you are trying to achieve? More specifically, what workflow does this support for your organization?
