Currently the SQLExecutor acts in a 'blocky' or 'groupwise' mode, with features output all at once. This can cause problems, for example, in looping transformers. Replacements for the SQLExecutor in this situation (database readers or FeatureReader) are also 'blocky'. Allowing the SQLExecutor to output a feature immediately would provide more creative options for custom transformers.
