Since 2016, "all HTTP-based formats received a new SSO authentication option". At about the same time this announcement was made, Portal reader and writer were also released but the reader has issues depending on your authentication options; the writer is also somewhat broken as it works with writing new feature layers only but not updating existing feature layers. I wonder if the update would work if SSO is added.

With ESRI adding OAuth2 support for ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal) and ESRI's Utility Network getting more traction this year and the next few years adding SSO, including OAuth2 - would get more users to use this reader/writer.

I noticed this the other day in the HTTP caller (when I was hitting a query URL that returned json for a feature service). Could SSO be included for ArcGIS Server Features, and maybe even ArcGIS Online readers/writers? Would be SOOOO nice!

It would be nice to have SAML support for ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online readers/writers. We're seeing more and more larger agencies leveraging Azure and Okta as a SSO solution.

Hi, have there been any updates on this? SSO would be great as currently we'd need to create fixed accounts in Portal to allow people to use FME to update data.

Chatted with SAFE a couple of months ago on this, and it sounds like they're working on adding the same functionality that ArcGIS Online has (OAUTH) in a future version.
Datamanagement of a Enterprise Portal using Oauth2, using FME Server will be important for us. So adding new featureservices, and update existing ones.

Now we need to add a hard coded user/password into the workspace. We would like to work with webconnections. The reader 'Esri ArcGIS Server Feature Service' can also be updated

This idea has been implemented in FME 2020.0 and 2019.2--ArcGIS Portal formats now supports authentication using OAuth2!
