The inspector is a great tool to view features and to view filtered features but it cannot save just the filtered features. Why not add this functionality?

The File Menu of the FME Data Inspector has options to "Save Data As" or " Save Selected Data As".
These options allow you to write data from the Data Inspector to any FME supported format.
I think that is what you are looking for.
