I have experienced this before: getting to production with the redirect option still in place!
So yes, good idea!
+9I'd be happier if "Redirect to Inspector" was a default toolbar button - I use it all the time, and continually forget to turn it off before passing workspaces over to other people.

Absolutely. Having the warnings in the log file when the process has finished is too late. At that point, you are already kicking yourself...

Haven't we all had a workspace running for a considerable time, finally putting the data where it belongs after a long day of transformer-tweaking, when suddenly the inspector pops up from behind Youtube / Facebook / blog.safe.com...

What if a banner was across the top of your workspace whenever you were in "redirect to inspector" mode (much like the banner that comes up in the Data Inspector inviting you to see a background map if you've never set one before). It would use some realestate but might be a good way to keep this situation front and center? @courtney_m @1spatialdave @erik_jan @martinkoch @rollo

We could also never *save* that state with a workspace -- you could only be in that state if you turned it on after opening a workspace. Any downsides to that?

A banner is nice and obvious and avoiding saving the state seems sensible. It's possible people save it now to avoid writing to environments they haven't yet been given the all clear to write to, but nothing that couldn't be handled by disabling links.

And on top of it all lets automatically turn this option off when publishing it to the FMEServer.
On the Server we don't use the option at all.

It's even better when it's in a workspace you're running many times with the workspace runner. The inspectors keep coming up faster than you can close them!

Hi @courtney_m, in FME 2018.0, we've set it so that if Redirect or Full Inspection is on, a message will be written into the translation log right away.

Hooray! Is it also classed as a 'warning' so it is included in the summary of warnings count?

Agree, especially with the banner suggestion. Or perhaps other would find this annoying, but an extra dialog to click through when you run redirected after you hit the run button?
