Reader should read only required attributes

While reading the reader, FME reads all the attributes whether it is required or not for translation. Most of the times, all the attributes are not required so we are using attribute keeper or attribute remover transformer and allowing only the required.

I suggest FME should read only those attributes which are having tick mark in User Attributes tab in reader. This will reduce in memory issues as well.

Depending on the format, this is already in the FME 2016 betas. We've also slightly revised the user interface around that "tick mark" in FME 2016 to be clear about what is going on as well.

 

 

Can you advise what format you're working with? The formats in FME 2016 that have been updated to honor this new setting are the database formats MSSQL, ORACLE, DB2, INFX, ODBC and NETEZZA

Oracle, shape, gdb, mdb and excel are more frequently used formats
