One user at FME WT suggested, that there could be an option for passing a transformer additionally to Enable/Disable. When Pass would be on, features would pass the transformer. When developing a workspace, many times you have to test the workspace with/without certain transformers. Now the fastest way is to use Ctrl-x and Ctrl-z. Passing a transformer would be like in coding: You can comment certain functionality, and the rest of the code is still executed. In FME, disable just stops the feature flow, and the user has to build new links for passing a transformer.

This looks maybe a bit dangerous to me, as you have to see very clearly at any time which transformers are being past and which not. Could be useful though..

I think the key problem is determining which ports to connect. If a transformer has multiple input/output ports and you pass it by, then do the previous/next transformers have the same number of ports? We'd need to figure out a solution for that at least.

I thought about 2 possible solutions that could solve this issue.

Or give every Transformer Input an additional Output. Then it is obvious that the Features will pass true without change. In my picture I coloured the disabled output blue. But there is also a possibility to make it an AlwaysOn Output. Then you can pass through all features unchanged all the time, and enable/disable the connection behind the Transformer.
