Hi,

(This is a rehash of an earlier idea, which was presented somewhat poorly. Hopefully this fares better)

When I promote a workspace into production, I do it by saving it as an FME mapping file, and use that to run the translation. This way I avoid having later changes to the workspace crash the translation before the changes are finalized and tested.

However, my workspaces are typically riddled with inspectors, which are essential to testing and QA. I don't need those for production.

It would be very beneficial to have an option of "Automatically disable all inspectors" added to the "Save As" dialog, so I don't need to manually do this (thus changing my workspace) before saving the copy, and later manually re-instate all (or rather some of) the inspectors to their former enabled state to work with workspace.

Besides, interactive inspectors don't really make that much sense in an FME file now that we have FME Workbench, do they ?

Cheers
Lars I.

This is the comments from the earlier post:

Mark said: There's an Enable/Disable Inspectors under the Transformers menu. Does that do what you need?

Me: No it doesn't, since some of my inspectors may already be disabled, and I don't want to re-enable them unnecessarily. The menu item you're referring to doesn't keep track of the current state of each inspector, but just enables or disables them all, am I right ?

My further thoughts are, that it may be possible to use the mentioned menu item + Undo, but it takes several clicks, and is error prone:

1. Click menu item: enables all inspectors

2. Click menu item again: disables all inspectors

3. Save as FME/mapping file

4. Ctrl-Z to re-enable all inspectors (cancelling #2)

5. Ctrl-Z to reset all inspectors to original state (cancelling #1)

Not a good substitute to a simple checkbox.
