At the moment the XMLValidator only provides the option to validate agains a schema, if the location for the file is provided as a local path. It should allow for URLs and more important to use the schema specified in the XML file.

Thanks for your suggestion. For the URL parameter in XMLValidator, do you want to specify the XML dataset via URL, or the XML schema? I just tested this in FME 2019.1.1 and I could specify the application schema via URL but not the dataset file path - see attached . By 'schema specified in the file' do you mean xsi:schemaLocation?
