I agree, it would be helpful to work with this format as NGO's often use those ODF standards!
Hi. We still need this evolution. Thank you
very very helpful to everybody !
Long overdue!
We really need this. All of the census data in Northern Ireland comes in this format by default.
Very good idea. I'm working on a daily basis with ODS files and this is very helpful.
I know this is quite an old post but ODS is becoming more and more standard for UK governement Open Data.
The OpenDocument format (ODF) for Office Document Applications are a ISO standards:

ISO/IEC 26300-2:2015 - Part 2: Recalculated Formula (OpenFormula) Format
ISO/IEC 26300-3:2015 - Part 3: Packages
OASIS - Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) Version 1.2
The use of Open Document Spreadsheet (.ods) is legaly mandatory for Portuguese public administration for interoperabilty reasons and fredoom to access public open data, regardless of the software used.

So, adding an reader and writer for ODS OpenDocument format to FME would be a great value added to FME software solutions, and very usefull for FME users around the world, and especially for Portuguese FME users.
