"Night mode" / "dark mode" of FME Workbench and Inspector


Merged Ideas:

Changing the background color of Workbench or adding a dark mode by mathieu_ambrosy on September 7, 2017

Totally useless so totally indispensable : the ability to change the background color inside Workbench (the main tab).

So we could use a dark background for example.

And less specific, why not a "dark theme" or a "dark mode" in Workbench ?

Nice idea for FME users falled to the lure of the dark side...

Would prefer this aswell. Have all my programs and windows menus set to dark.

It would be great to be able to pick any colour you want to suit your situation\\preference.

FME 2018 is out and still no dark mode for Desktop.. Any hope for FME 2018.1 or 2019?

I use NegativeScreen to invert all colors on my Windows machine. This program could be a good stopgap measure for those waiting for Dark Mode. It definitely comes with caveats: it applies universally, it does a poor job with photographs (of course), it runs a bit slow, and inversion isn't for everyone. However, it has a 'smart inversion' mode that preserves primary colors (Win + Alt + F6). Using that mode, Workbench and Data Inspector look pretty good:

Does the transformers parameters will be dark too? And the Text/Arithmetic Editor as well?

Yes, I just checked and they are both dark. The Start tab and help window are the only parts I see that are not dark. But this is just a preview and more updates are being made all the time.

My eyes had trouble adjusting to the dark mode, just like you feel when you enter a dark room after being in a brightly lit place.

But I like the dark mode concept as a Bentley MicroStation user, working with black background!

I would love this version, keep Light Mode style on transformers, annotations, connections, bookmarks, and only change canvas background colour... is this possible? 😅
