The GDAL libraries are highly efficient both in terms of performance and in terms of the integration of very specific raster functions.

It would be very useful if FME were to integrate these libraries natively, so that they do not have to be installed and run separately via Systemcaller. This is often difficult on FME Flow instances.

A potential GDAL-Caller transformer could enable them to be executed

They are at least partly installed. You just don’t access them directly. You can see it in the FME\plugins\gdal folder and with GDAL Generic Raster for example. Maybe you can ask for a dedicated transformer.

Hi @pdorio,

It would be very helpful for us to know what operations you want to perform with GDAL. GDAL is shipped with FME, and is used for several raster readers and writers. Any suggestions you have on how we can expand the usefulness of GDAL within FME would be welcome.

I know, but it’s impossible to call the lybraries using for example ${HOME}/gdal/…. the single executables does not exists, gdalinfo, gdal_warp, gdal_translate, ecc
