Image classification tools

Image classification such as MLC(maximum likelihood classification) or PTA(principle component analysis) would be extremely useful. Obtaining and using training data might be difficult but the training phase could write out a local file which is re used for the main classification, a new image could then be rendered with the assigned colours. The tool could even use other methods such as inverse distance weighting for spatial statistics and analysis.
