Making Transformer version history available

Second this! I'd like a grid/overview of the transformer versions and their respective FME Desktop builds. Right now I'm working on a workspace that's been saved in a newer version of FME Desktop, and I'm trying to figure out which transformer versions I have in my version of FME Desktop, and which exist in newer versions of FME Desktop.

As it is now, I can only see version numbers if there's any transformers to upgrade. As I don't have the new transformers in my workspace, I can't see the version numbers. The only way I've found to figure out the transformer version numbers is to open up an older workspace, hope that the transformer in question has been used there, find it under "Upgradable transformers", and then look at the version numbers there.

@turid_skedsmo - Look under Tools > FME Options > Transformers. There is an option there to display the transformer version. When you do that it appears in pop-ups and summary annotation. That would probably solve a lot of the issues you are having.

To add to this - a perhaps simple change that would be useful in the meantime - on the help for transformers specify which version of the transformer the help relates to, and ideally provide links to the help for older transformer versions - please.

When reviewing workspaces built in an older version of workbench, it would be useful to be able to view the relevant help either through links as above, or by being able to set the help location in FME Tools menu (can change priority, but not location), rather than having to install the specific older version of FME.

Hi, after looking to find the change to a transformer at different builds, I third this idea to either have a matrix or lookup of some kind. A workspace with only 10 commonly used transformers in it displayed drastically different behaviour between builds 18552 and 18567. Same for reader/writers too. Yes, I accidentally opened the 18567 version in 18552 (forgetting to check all the detail). This has just made me super curious to determine what changed.

Yes it exist in your installation folder of FME :-)

In the file fmesuite.fmx found at C:\\Program Files\\FME2019.1.3.1\\transformers (or equivalent) I think all transformer history is stored between the tags CHANGE_LOG_START and CHANGE_LOG_END for each version of the transformers. You can open fmesuite.fmx in Notepad and search or build a smart workspace that reads the file and collects all changes and store them elsewhere for further reference.

Because in the workspace there is kind of an error with the now available "Change Log" when you update a transformer. For the GeometryValidator it states, that it is in version 1 or version 3. When I see the Change Log it tells me, it's Version 5 and only show me these changes.

Would be nice, if on the help page for the Transformers, there would be the whole history of the transformers, with all the changes so far.
