Summary Annotations contain a lot of information, and therefore take up a lot of screen space. On the other hand, summary annotations dynamically display the settings of a transformer, which can be better than using static Annotation.

Therefore it would be nice to have the possibility to select what information is shown in a Summary Annotation.

This would have the benefit of showing only the settings the user deems relevant, while at the same time automatically updating this information when these settings are changed.

Hi @geomancer. Out of the following you mentioned, which do you feel is the greater challenge?:

  1. Summary annotations can take up a great amount of screen real estate
  2. Summary annotations contain content that is not always relevant
  3. … something else (I won’t assume)

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi @jennaatsafe ,

Summary annotations often take up a great amount of screen real estate, while only a small part of the information is relevant. So 1 and 2 both, in equal measures.

I wonder if it would be possible to make a collapsible summary annotation? So it didn’t have to take up so much space all the time.

Would that be useful? I think it would for me because, like you, summary annotation just takes up too much space to be worth it. I usually convert it to normal annotation and make edits, but of course, you lose the automated part then.

Interesting idea, but I don't think that would be very useful.

One would have to open the summary annotation to see its contents, which more or less defeats the purpose of summary annotations. In that case it would probably be quicker to just open the settings, with the added benefit that the user can instantly modify some settings.
