FME Flow APP with dynamicParameterData is great!

However, I have installed the FME flow APP on my PC, and I would prefer to open the installed APP directly instead of a new web page.   The progressive web application (PWA)) APP gives a better integration / look and feel.

Thanks for raising this @bjarne. I want to make sure I’m understanding the behaviour you’re seeing correctly.

I’ve tried reproducing this locally with very simple setups: (1) made a URL-based configuration; and (2) configured Loading at Launch via a Workspace. I installed both Flow Apps as PWA on macOS, and in each case the app opens within the installed PWA as expected, rather than spawning a separate browser tab. My particular app streams back an HTML page and that also opened within the PWA. So it feels like there may be something specific about your environment or configuration that’s influencing what you’re seeing.

To help get to the bottom of it, could you clarify a few details?

  • What device / OS and browser are you using when you open the link? (e.g. macOS + Chrome, Windows + Edge, iOS Safari, Android Chrome)

  • Is this happening on desktop, mobile, or both?

  • How is the Flow App PWA installed?

  • Which kind of Dynamic Parameter App Launch settings have you used?

  • When you say it opens in a “new web page,” is that instead of the installed PWA, or in addition to it?

If you have a couple of screenshots or a short screen recording, that would also help a lot.

Once we understand the exact setup and expectations, we can better determine whether this is a platform/browser limitation, a configuration issue, or a genuine gap in how Flow Apps handle Dynamic App configurations in an installed PWA.

That’s good news!

My environment is PC, windows 11, and Microsoft Edge, Version 143.0.3650.96 (Official build) (64-biters).

I can do some more testing in the weekend and come back with more feedback.

@bjarne thanks again for your input here. Without additional info we can’t move forward on this and it’s not something we’re planning to pursue in the near term — but your feedback is still valuable and helps inform future discussions. This post will be closed for now.
