Free account to the FME Cloud just for testing the new FME Server beta releases

It would be helpful if FME Users could create a permanent free access to the FME Cloud just for testing beta releases of the FME Server.
In our infrastructure beta tests are not possible, mostly for cost reasons. In addition, a new server would always have to be set up here.

Apart from the beta tests, such free access would also be an ideal way to quickly test your own workspaces with new versions of the FME server before updating the own FME Server.

In this way, the effort for updating the FME server can be estimated in advance.

    Hi. Currently, due to the costs of the underlying infrastructure, it won't be possible to allow individual users to launch beta FME Server instances.

     

     

    We could potentially have one public FME Server beta running that anyone can create an account on. We could keep it up to date and purge it regularly. It would be multi-tenant though. I'll leave this idea open to gauge interest on that.

    Note, the Starter instance costs $1 an hour to run, so if you only have it on for a few hours a month then it is very affordable.

    In addition to @stewartharper's comments, an FME Cloud would only mimic your FME Server setup if you run it plain out of the box. In my experience FME Server installations tend to be customized to some degree, this might be a custom Python interpreter, or a distributed install, or ESRI libraries, or a connection to AD. So while you might be able to see differences in the new FME Server version it would most likely not match your environment so potentially not be a good betatest anyway.

    Personally I would prefer running my own instance rather than sharing one with a number of other people, but I like the idea of a public beta.
