supports the SMB protocol and can be used as an FME Server System Share as long as the user running the FME Server services and the user installing FME Server has R/W access to the file share. During the installation, the user running the FME Server services can be specified and the Azure Files share path can also be specified during the install. Here's an example, where fmeserversystemshare is the account name and fmeserver a directory created in the Azure Files service:
\\\\fmeserversystemshare.file.core.windows.net\\fmeserver
To make sure that the user who runs the installation & the services of FME Server has access to the Azure file share, the credentials of the file share can be persisted on the machine:

So we have a user that uses FMECloud and wants to connect to Microsoft Azure Cloud storage (had to change from Azure Blob storage). How can we do this when there is no access to the "linux server" in FMECloud? @gerhardatsafe
Hi @sigtill, this is idea initially was related to using an Azure File Storage share as FME Server System Share. On FME Cloud you cannot change the FME Server System Share. The FME Server System Share will always be on the instance. In general, using file share paths on FME Cloud is not recommended and mounting shares is not supported.
However, if you were thinking about accessing an Azure Files share (see doc below) with a workspace running on FME Cloud, you can use the AzureFileStorageConnector which is part of the Azure Storage package. Azure Files supports SMB as well as REST and the AzureFileStorageConnector uses the REST API to interact with the file share, which is the recommended way to access Azure File shares with FME Cloud.
