I would like the FME Server Job view to have a better design, making it more visually pleasing and more space efficient. Necessary improvements to the FME Server Jobs page would include:

  • Decrease font and element sizes
  • Default column sizes need re-thinking to prevent uncessesary line wraps
  • Auto refresh: Button to activate/deativate automatic refresh and field to set refresh interval
  • Allow filtering based on any column, including Status

Example showing how much space is lost because of default element sizing, column widths and font sizes. Regular 10 point Consolas text shown next to it for scale. In this example one single job takes the vertical space of 5 lines of regular text:

Thanks David, all valid points. We are looking at this closely for 2017. I added your comments to the wireframe document but our thoughts were similar.

Hi,

It would be great, to have the possibility to scroll forward or backward at the top oft the listing additionally to the bottom of the listing.

Agree with all of above but how about some basic functionality like filter by workspace or filter by result, even sorting on these would be a help. What I need to do is locate the result of a job last run from a workspace and examine the log. I can't see anyway of doing this at the moment.

Filtering / sorting on any column would be a huge improvement. It sounded like this was in the works for 2017 but, sadly, doesn't seem to have made it in. :(

There may be a way already to do this, but to have a dashboard type application with the workspaces that your permissions give you to run/view and their last known run-time status and time. This would allow a system admin to look at all the workspaces on a server and see if they are failing or running fine. Basically like the completed page, but filtered by the most recent log for each workspace.

This idea has been partially implemented for FME Server 2018.0 – the Completed Jobs page will now automatically refresh if you are looking at the first page of jobs!

I notice that the screenshot included for this Idea is of FME Server 2015.. please check out the latest iteration (FME Server 2017) – there have been two web interface redesigns since the initial request and it would be great to have some feedback!

I recognize that this Idea posting has multiple ideas embedded into it. To help us track status more efficiently, it is suggested to break out each idea into its own posting.

For anyone requesting improvements to sorting jobs in FME Server – please see this Idea.

Now I will be changing this idea to 'In Beta'... at the risk of offending anyone who has commented here. I feel that the concerns related to auto-refreshing jobs pages and column widths have been addressed in FME Server 2018.0 and 2017.x, respectively. Please add your comments to this idea regarding these two items.

The web interface redesigns have also changed the size and styling of elements. Please consider opening a new Idea to address concerns relating to styling if you feel the current web interface (FME Server 2017.0 and Newer) is not acceptable.

Thank you for all your support to help make FME Server even better!

Please note that auto-refreshing jobs pages will not be in FME Server 2018.0 – it will be undergoing additional work to make this feature more robust.

If you would like to continue tracking its support, please view and add your votes or comments here.

With the release of FME Server 2018.0, this idea will now have its status changed to Released.

The column width has been addressed in FME Server 2017.x, and a general web interface redesign for FME Server 2018.0 has changed the size and styling of elements. Please consider opening a new Idea to address concerns relating to styling if you feel the current web interface (FME Server 2018.0 and Newer) is not acceptable.

For auto-refreshing the jobs page, please see this idea.

For requests related to sorting completed jobs, please see this idea.
