Enable a feature that allows user to view the workspace (either as an image before you open it - like Windows) or by opening the workspace in View only model.  When editing is required, a license is checked out.  Not a money spinner for Safe (!), but would allow users to check logic/undertake basic QA without checking out a production license.

Thanks for sharing @bush_walker

I would love to understand more about “allow users to check logic/undertake basic QA” or other scenarios this might occur. For you or anyone else coming to this idea, a few quick questions to elaborate.

  1. Tell me about the last time you opened a workspace with the intent to just view it, not edit in any way or run.
    1. What prompted you to open it?
    2. What did you end up doing once it was open?
    3. In the past month, roughly how many times have you done this?
    4. Is there anything that would have meant you didn't need to open it at all?

Hi @jennaatsafe - thanks for the quick reply!

Tell me about the last time you opened a workspace with the intent to just view it, not edit in any way or run. -

  1. What prompted you to open it? we have a set of project workspaces where I am the principle author, but have a colleague who adjusts it, he sometimes has issues so I look at the workspace and let him know what he needs to adjust.  It would also be useful from a screen sharing perspective - it’s hard to review large workspaces over Teams, so it would be good to be able to simultaneously open it to review it on a call but not make actual changes.
  2. What did you end up doing once it was open? So, I review it, then tell a colleague what he needs to tweak, may be a setting or rule.  There’s an upskilling piece, I don’t make the change, I advise someone what they need to do, or ask them to review/adapt a transformer
  3. In the past month, roughly how many times have you done this? - at least weekly
  4. Is there anything that would have meant you didn't need to open it at all? - not sure how to answer this
