Sometimes I may wish to make a slight change to a FeatureReader but even just amending the Transformer Name results in the Generating Output Ports pop up box. This is really irritating if amending a workspace that runs on FME server where parameters for file locations may not work locally.

If minor changes have been made to the reader but are ones that would not impact the output ports, e.g. max features to read, transformer name there should be the option to keep the FeatureReader output ports set up as is

Yes, that frustrates me every time.

I often have the dataset be an attribute, and it's annoying if I need to go in and edit something like attribute and geometry handling, and I need to re-initialize the dataset to save the parameters, even though nothing has changed that impacts the file schema. Especially when I'm working on a computer that might not even have the data.

This is even more irritating when the dataset is a raster like geotiff or jp2000 where the schema cannot change. I often default to the generic port just to avoid the hassle.
