Currently it is possible in fme to read a mosaic dataset with the Esri Geodatabase (ArcSDE Geodb Raster Dataset) or Esri Geodatabase (File Geodb Raster Dataset) but there no native fme writer for the same dataset that is being read.

This is a great idea! We are considering this idea for an upcoming release. It would really help to have a few more details on what aspects of ArcGIS Mosaic Dataset writing is most important. The more context you can provide, the better!

I think it's important to include an option to update an existing mosaic dataset and be able to update some of it's custom attributes. For example, I have a mosaic dataset which has a datetime, version, and name field which I want to be able to write directly the mosaic dataset.
