It would be very nice to have the option 'Duplicate on Writer' always enabled, even if there are no writers present. I cannot think of a faster way to add a writer. Currently the option is greyed-out if there is no writer available in the workbench.

Just to clarify: what you'd like is that 'Duplicate on Writer' is always enabled. If there is no writer, then FME would pop-up the Add Writer dialog?

Seems to me this is the Generate Workspace option in the Getting started screen.
+10Partly. Very often you are much further in the process and you just want to add the writer in your development process.
+10This is indeed the best option. At first I was thinking it should directly create a writer of the same kind (that could be the default), but showing the dialogue would be better.
