using a shift or control (any key combination with left click-drag) to “turn off” autosnap to transformer ports, connection lines, etc while moving one or more transformers into an area where there may be one or more connection lines right where you want to place the new transformer.

In FME Options, you are able to turn this on/off as an overall setting: FME Options > Workbench > Transformer Options > Use Drag-and-Insert Transformers.
For anyone reading this Idea:

  1. Were you aware of this being a control in FME Options? How would you see this working in conjunction with this being handled in a keyboard shortcut?
  2. If you were able to map keyboard shortcuts to actions however you wanted, what other actions that support workspace creation on canvas do you think we are missing?

I was not aware of this setting in options.
I only discovered after I posted this idea that it was already a feature. It does work to some degree but the perpendicular /ortho lock on it is still quite limiting.
I have noticed the auto search when I start typing a transformer name has gotten painfully slow. Why has that changed?
