FME Server 2018.1 has been officially released July 18th, 2018 and the status of this idea has been set accordingly.

Great idea, but how can I disable this feature? I give only read and run in my role for a repository but the download icon is still present... fme server 2018.1.0.2 ... thank you

@giosp – this discrepancy has been resolved in FME Server 2019.0. I'm sorry for the inconvenience it poses in the current version (FME Server 2018.1.x)!
The downloads page has the beta versions , if you wish to test it out.
