Original Title was: Contrast enhancing transformer for rasters with various contrast enhancement algorithms

A contrast enhancing transformer for rasters with various contrast enhancement algorithms.Technically a user can achieve this themselves, but the maths to do so is probably beyond most users (certainly is me).

Great idea, I think they could bring in an open source image enhancing library(maybe GEGL?) and wrap it into a transformer. It could then be a fully blown image enhancing transformer with contrast, white balance, brightness etc.
