The idea here is that bookmarks could be collapsed to hide their contents and reduce clutter on the canvas. You could temporarily "expand" them but they would open up "above" the canvas in their own floaty window, with scroll bars etc. A bit like a custom transformer that can't have more than one instance going at a time.

No. That's a work-around. To avoid clottering up the workspace, it would be very beneficial to be able to temporarily collapse bookmarks, and expanding them only when needed.

I think collapsible bookmarks are a great idea to clean-up and organize workspaces.

I highly recommend watching "Sneak Peek at FME 2018 and the Road Beyond" presented during the 2017 FME UC in Vancouver .. people voting on this Idea may be particularly interested near the 38-minute mark..!
