We are using this status with two goals in mind:

1. To show you that we had a look at your Idea and we use the Open status as opposed to Archiving it (basically saying that this is a valid idea, not something we don’t see ourselves doing right away).
2. See how much interests the idea can gather among the community

If we see it gaining traction with the community (or we believe this is a overall valid product improvement) we then investigate in more detail and put it on the roadmap for a future release if we believe the development and maintenance cost is worth the investment.
