The user drags the cursor on the Workbench canvas, which results in a box. The box only selects what is Inside.

Ability to select everything within a box when dragging left, and select everything that touches the box when dragging right.

@yvesstjulien - Using the Alt (or Option for macOS) while creating a selection box will select everything that is touching it.

Though it would be cool to have it the way you suggest! (Whether a toggle setting in preferences or not.)
