***Note from Migration:***

Original Title was: Add common date/time formats such as FME Date/Time (%Y%m%d%H%M%S) to Source Date Format in DateFormatter

Add date/time formats such as FME Date/Time (%Y%m%d%H%M%S), Locale Date (%) to unknown - Automatic Detection in Source Date Format drop down list in the DateFormatter. As well as being handy, it would help to avoid confusion - see https://knowledge.safe.com/questions/42603/warning-tip-ymdhms-datetime-values-in-csvs-are-not.html

Hear hear, including your own presets.

Source and destination formats should be choice with alias parameters so you can see a format with an example in the picker. I have to read the help every time now.

This functionality will be available in FME 2017.1. The new 2017.1 DateTimeFormatter Input Format parameter has a list of popular datetime formats in addition to Autodetect option. Any selected from the list format can be edited, a format string can also by typed in.

After Input Format and Output Format parameters are set, an example will be displayed in the Preview area.

The new DateTimeFormatter also has a Quick Reference which will provide users with the list of supported format flags with their brief descriptions.
