Hi @guidos did you already know clicking and holdthe mouse wheel button initiates the pan mode? Leaves the other hand to supply coffee!

yes but... diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks and all that. We're not robots :)

 

 

I'd like to see this idea expanded - with keystrokes for navigating the workspace to areas of frequent activity. Maybe a set of keystrokes for panning / zooming to each of the readers in turn, each of the writers in turn, to the four corners of the workspace, the centre...

I avoid wheeled mice because of carpal tunnel/wrist-problems I used to get. I use a trackball mouse and many (possibly all) programs have a keyboard shortcut to access the pan tool, the handiest method being what @guidos mentioned.
