Its possible to move up and down datasets in Navigator to specify their order of reading by FME. Why not the same ability for feature types ? Maybe because each reader has his own characteristics of reading ?

Yes, I think exactly because each format stores data in different ways. It's probably more likely to happen if you said for database formats only - because it's easier to pick the order of tables to read.

Great Idea. In addition, it would be even better if the default order of feature types to read with a single merged feature type would be strictly defined and documented.

Why not inspect features with Visual/Data Preview and Feature/Record Information before writing them into a destination dataset?
