Hi all,

I would like to get a mobile app using FME Server apps. I am trying to see if there is a way a user takes a photo, then once he takes it uploads that information to sharepoint.

This photo then contains your Long/Lat information as it has been geocoded along with the time it was taken.

Any suggestions if anyone has done this previously?

Hi @cardiofaz ,

You'll likely need to check out the FME Data Express app rather than using Server Workspace apps. Currently, you can access a few things like camera and gps info using data express but there are requests for more info here: https://community.safe.com/s/idea/0874Q000000Tkt3QAC/detail

Thanks Chris

That guide is very helpful and wondering how can you get the camera option in the video in this article? https://community.safe.com/s/article/getting-started-with-fme-data-express-1

Hi @cardiofaz ,

As long as your workspace contains a published parameter for the source dataset (note: source dataset parameters are created when you add the reader to the canvas), you should see options for Camera, Photo, and Files when you click the "select file" button.

Thanks @chrisatsafe that has worked a charm. I have managed to get a working end to end workbench which is quite powerful 😃

I just have to think about how to add the right transformer in terms of adding some metadata. So when a user takes a picture, they are able to input what type of activity they are doing i.e. utilities and capture that in the metadata, then link it to the photo. I believe similar concept in havign a publish parameter maybe with the attribute manager could be an option.

Yes, you can create other published parameters to get other information from the user. In the past though when I've tried to add these it broke the photo upload so hopefully that was just something I was doing wrong and you have more luck.

@chrisatsafe @Gary Nicholson  = Yes thanks guys, i have now got it working with parameter. So i have used data express but it does not work as it asks for a job id. Not sure what this as i have not used data express previously and how to create this.

If i try it through the web URL though it works although you have to save picture first on the phone and then upload it. Using the camera directly does not work as it thinks image is not there but that is fine.
