Question

Convert E57 to LAS?

van_ha

This is my first time working with FME workbench. I would like to convert an E57 to LAS to import into ArcGIS Pro for a class project. I looked around in the Transformer Gallery but could not find the correct tool. Thanks so much for your help!

Hello @van_ha , I downloaded an open source e57 file, and was able to do a straight E57 to LAS conversion. I used the POINTCLOUDXYZ writer. I did have some initial issues with component types after reading back in my output to validate, but it was a simple fix in the reader. Let me know if you have any specific questions about this! Here to help, Kailin

Hi Kailin, thanks for your help!

I found the tool and ran it. Do you know how I can export the data as an LAS file?

Hello @van_ha , sorry, do you mean export the LAS file out of FME? This should be done automatically using the POINTCLOUDXYZ writer! When you add the writer to workbench, you'll be able to specify where your LAS file will be written or exported (in red):
