FME Hub user edwardburton just uploaded a new transformer to the FME Hub.

Replaces the input polygon with a grid of regular hexagons of the specified size and in the selected tiling mode.

Inputs

Polygon Input

The polygon required to be replaced by a tile of hexagons.

Parameter

Hexagon Circumradius

The required size of the hexagon tiles. The circumradius is the length between a vertex and the centre point of the hexagon.

Tiling mode

Clipped to polygon extents

The hexagon tiles will be clipped to the shape of the polygon they're replacing. This will leave the outermost tiles no longer hexagon shaped.

Intersecting polygon

Any tiles intersecting the input polygon will be output. This will include any tiles that extend beyond the boundary of the polygon.

Contained within polygon

Only tiles fully contained within the input polygon will be output. This means the tiling will not fully cover the input polygon, but will leave spaces between the outermost tiles and the polygon boundary.

Outputs

Tiles

The hexagon tiles

Centre_Nodes

Points at the centre of the hexagons

Edges

The lengths between the verteces of the hexagon.

Edge_Nodes

The verteces of the hexagon tiles.
